Pomchi Breed Guide

Learn more about Pomchis

  • Temperament

Full of energy and playful, the Pomchi is a small breed full of personality like it’s parents. They are curious, love to explore, and have a happy outlook on life. They will often choose one person in the household and claim them as its person.

  • Health

Generally healthy, like their parent breeds, Pomchis can be susceptible to dental and gum disease, cataracts, hypothyroidism, epilepsy, and progressive retinal atrophy.

  • Activity Level

Pomchis will get most of their exercise from following you around the house, though they should still have a 30 minute walk and/or playtime everyday.

  • Grooming

To keep loose fur and dander under control, the Chimeranian should be brushed at least twice per week. They also need their ears checked daily to keep them clean and their nails trimmed once to twice per month.

  • Shedding

If they have a long coat, the Chi-Pom will shed moderately and twice per year in the spring and autumn shed more. Since they aren’t hypoallergenic, they aren’t the best choice for allergy sufferers.

  • Appearance

They can have long or short coats which can come in several colors, whether solid or a few mixed together. The colors include sable, brown, blue, tan, black, and many more.

  • History

Originating in the late 1990s or early 2000s, Pomchis were likely bred for a small adorable companion dog. It is uncertain where they originated nor when they were first intentionally bred.
