FAQs

1. The prices seem really low. These puppies are half the price of my local pet shop. Why is that?
Keep in mind that in most cases, you are buying these puppies directly from the breeder. Often, it is a family pet that has had a litter of puppies, or a hobby breeder is sharing a litter of their puppies. Pet shops are in business to make money, so they have to mark up the price of the puppy in order to cover their overhead and expenses. Also remember when going directly to the breeder, the puppy is not exposed to other dogs and is not stressed from being moved around, which means he/she will be healthier and happier.

2. Where did you get all these dogs? Is this a giant kennel?
No, BuckeyePuppies.com is an advertising platform. We do not raise, sell or house puppies. We simply just advertise them. Also, we are not a “high volume broker” like some misleading anti-pet people falsely claim. You will always reach out to the breeder or their representative directly. Again, BuckeyePuppies.com does not sell puppies, we only advertise them.

3. Can I take the puppy home with me right away?
Yes, often you can, as long as the puppy is old enough and the breeder feels that the puppy is ready to be released. Puppies have to be at least 8 weeks old or older in order to leave the breeder. You will also need to make sure that the breeder accepts your form of payment. We suggest taking cash, as the majority of the breeders accept it. Some breeders may accept credit cards, PayPal, Venmo or other digital payment services. Be sure to discuss acceptable forms of payments before you go to pick up your puppy.

We also suggest that you take a pet carrier and a few blankets or towels to transport your puppy home. It is a good idea to ask for a small blanket or towel with the mother’s scent, as this will help with the transition of the puppy to its new home. Also requesting a small bag of food that the puppy is used to eating to help in the transition is recommended.

4. I can’t find the breeder information.
Click on the picture of the puppy that you are interested in and it will open up a detailed listing along with the breeder/seller contact information. By clicking on the blue button that says “Interested In This Puppy”, you will find the contact information. Additionally, you can also click on the “View Seller Profile” to find additional information about the breeder/seller. .

5. Can I visit the puppy in person before I buy?
Sure! Visitors are usually welcome with our advertisers. Be sure to contact the breeder/seller on the listing and make arrangements to visit. In some cases, breeders/sellers may be able to do a video call with the puppy if that is desired.

6. Where are the puppies located?
The breeders/sellers on BuckeyePuppies.com can be located throughout the state of Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. You may also visit our affiliate LancasterPuppies.com for puppies located in other parts of the U.S.

7. I would like my puppy delivered - who can I call?
To have your puppy delivered, contact the seller to see if they have a reputable pet transport service to recommend. Keep in mind, Buckeye Puppies and Lancaster Puppies do not ship puppies or arrange delivery service. You may also check around your area for reputable pet transporters. You may find companies that offer pet cargo flights through commercial airlines, pet nanny flight services and ground transporters that can meet you part way or deliver to your door. Again, please check with the seller first to arrange transport and to see if they agree to allow the puppy to be shipped. Shipping costs are always at the expense of the buyer.

8. I still have questions. How can I know it is ok to buy a puppy from your site!?
Don’t just take our word for it, go and look at the puppy and see where it is raised. Call the breeders and sellers and ask plenty of questions. A responsible breeder should have answers about the breed that they raise and the individual puppy. Responsible breeders will also have paperwork from their veterinarian and a vaccination and a de-worming schedule. We get a lot of testimonials from happy people who have found puppies through our site.

9. Is there a health guarantee?
Most reputable breeders and sellers will have the puppy examined by their vet before they are ready to go to their new homes. Health guarantees vary from breeder to breeder. Some may not offer a guarantee, while others may offer a 72 hour, 30 day, 6 month or 1 year health guarantee. It is always a good idea to discuss any health guarantees with the breeder or seller before purchasing your puppy.
