Pomapoo Puppies

Because the Pomapoo is a mix of two breeds, it's hard to say for certain what its personality will be like. Some Pomapoos favor the Pomeranian, while others have a personality that's more like the Poodle. In general, though, the Pomapoo is a friendly and affectionate dog with an outgoing personality. Most Pomapoos get along well with just about anyone, but it's possible for a Pomapoo to be a bit shy around strangers like the Pomeranian. However, it is rare for Pomapoos to be aggressive, and they're typically very easygoing. Nevertheless, it's important that the Pomapoo receives proper training and socialization during puppyhood so they grow up as well-rounded dogs.

Pomapoos can occasionally suffer from Addison’s disease and epilepsy. They can also develop cataracts as they get older. Miniature Poodles enjoy relatively good health and so does the Pomapoo. Take them to regular vet visits and keep them on the proper diet.

A Pomapoo enjoys daily activity, but they are also fine with lounging around the house. They have a moderate energy level and require a low amount of exercise to be content. They mainly want to follow the lead of their owners.

Your Pomapoo’s grooming needs will depend on which parent breed dominates its genes. They will require brushing a few times a week to prevent tangles and to keep their coats fluffy and nice. They will also need their nails cut when you hear clicking as they walk.

Because of their Poodle heritage, Pomapoos do not shed much. They are low-shedders, but can still irritate allergy sufferers depending on which breed they inherit their fur from.

Despite the amount of information that exists on the histories of the Pomeranian and the Poodle, there isn't much out there about the Pomapoo's origins. It is assumed that the Pomapoo was created during the "designer dog craze" that took place in the United States during the 1980s, 90s, and early 2000s. During this time, many people began breeding designer dogs by intentionally crossing two purebreds in order to combine the best traits of both breeds into one dog. The Pomapoo, along with most other designer dogs, likely developed in this way. While the American Kennel Club (AKC) does not register designer dogs, there are some clubs that do, like the International Designer Canine Registry (IDCR).
